A doodle and a cute kiddo

My  friend Tania and her three cute kids stopped by to visit with the puppies this weekend. I just had to share this series of photos that I took of her middle child Connor who just turned two. He loved the puppies!

Playtime/Feeding time in the living room

Growing bigger every day!

The puppies are growing quickly. Today there new trick was to scream when I picked them up. They quickly calmed once they realized it wasn't so bad, but I think they are starting to see more clearly and heights can be a little scary at first. They are much more active and make their way around the box quickly. This week we'll start introducing paper training, as they are already realizing they shouldn't go on their "bed" aka the blanket. It's hard to believe that next weekend we'll start introducing the concept of puppy food. I'm sure Maia will quickly gobble it up but I'm excited to see them start to explore it!

Here are some photos of the puppy's first visitor my good friend Jessica

Jess with the runt. He was so comfy he slept in her arms forever.

And then today 1/19 in their recently cleaned box, that of course lasted 5 seconds.

This pup was not real thrilled about being woke up for the box cleaning.

Photo mid yawn or maybe she was trying to eat her sibling.

Growing Puppies - Day 10

The puppies are growing quickly and most doubled in size by day 7.  They weigh between 1.4 and 2.1 pounds. It won't be long before they are opening their eyes. There dewclaws were removed on day 3. They had their first nail trim on Day 7 (240 nails cut!) to make Maia more comfortable and will have them trimmed at least once a week from here on out. Most didn't mind, but there were already a few squirmers.

Boys and Girls

The pups had their dewclaws removed on Day 3 and did great. They are now are four days old and doing great. Most of their time, of course, is spent eating and sleeping. There's the occasional whimper when they are trying to find mom.

I divided the pups into a a boys and a girls group for photos tonight. There are a few that appear to have curls but last time our curliest at birth ended up with very little curls.

Boys are on stripes, girls on dots.

12 Healthy Puppies

Maia had 12 healthy puppies born between 9am - 1:30pm on January 3rd. She was such a trooper during labor and acted like it was no big deal. The pups immediately began crawling around and nursing.

 Check out that eating pose!

Photos of Maia's first litter

I wanted to share some photos of Maia's last litter. These pictures range from 8 months to 10 months. I've loved keeping in contact with all of our previous buyers plus the two new puppy owners who were wonderful enough to take in a pup when their buyer wasn't able to keep him/her. Our last litter pups currently live in: New Mexico, Juneau, Port Heiden, Anchorage, Wasilla, Fairbanks and North Pole!

Happy New Year - Maia is expecting!

Happy New Year! 2014 is shaping up to have a busy start for us as Maia and Fischer are expecting their second litter any day now. It's a good thing puppies aren't eligible for the PFD, as they decided to not make their appearance in 2013.

According to the xray we are expecting 10 puppies (at least), but we will assume a couple might have been hiding out. We are excited to welcome another litter. I have been trying to catch up on sleep as much as possible, as I know how busy the next two months will be.  Maia loves her puppy box this time and has been sleeping in it for the past week. Once they arrive I'll be sure to post pictures.

Happy NewYear!
